Here is an amazing 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom . 1968-69 was a transitional year for this guitar , throughout these year Gibson made small changes , this one seems to be an early/ mid year production of 1969 .The guitar has no volute and no" made in the USA " stamp on the headstock , the body is 1 piece Mahogany with a Maple cap (no pancake body) and has a short neck tenon. It has the Kluson 'Waffle' tuners , the guitar has been refretted with the same size frets from the factory so it maintains its fretless wonder feel .
All pots date to 1969 and the original PAT number sticker pickups sound amazing , dynamic with a real open tone . The back of the neck has been refinished , it looks great and there are no breaks or repairs , the original serial number is visible but a duplicate serial number has been stamped into the headstock . We are guessing this was done years ago to perhaps 'clean up' the wear on the neck; a very small hole has also been plugged by the controls . This guitar plays and sounds fantastic .
